Federal Funding Cut for Schools Allowing ‘Illegal Protests’; Agitators Risk Jail Time – One America News Network

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump declared his intention to eliminate all federal funding for institutions that permit “illegal protests.” The 47th president also warned that protesters could face imprisonment or deportation to their countries of origin.

This warning comes as turmoil from various anti-Israel and pro-Hamas protests continues to disrupt college campuses across the United States.
“All Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests,” Trump, aged 78, stated in an early post on Truth Social.
“Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on the crime, arrested.”
“NO MASKS! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he concluded.
This significant warning follows a day after the administration announced it would withdraw over $50 million in government contracts from Columbia University, citing the Ivy League school’s presumed failure to address anti-Israel protests.
Federal officials are also examining over $5 billion in federal grant commitments to the university to ensure the rights of Jewish students are safeguarded.
This stern warning aligns with Trump’s establishment of a Task Force to combat Anti-Semitism, formed upon his return to the White House in January. During his campaign, he pledged to confront the animosity manifesting on college campuses.
In response, Columbia University indicated it was reviewing the federal government’s warning and hoped to collaborate with the White House in the fight against Anti-Semitism.
“Columbia is fully committed to combating antisemitism and all forms of discrimination, and we are resolute that calling for, promoting, or glorifying violence or terror has no place at our University,” the school stated late Monday.
Moreover, Trump signed an executive order in January directing federal agencies to take measures against pro-Hamas graffiti and intimidation on college campuses, which includes the deportation of anti-Jewish activists who break laws.
The order mandates the deportation of resident aliens, including visa-holding students, who violated laws during anti-Israel protests that erupted following the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.
