After President Donald Trump implemented new tariffs, Nvidia, the global technology and chip manufacturing company, has announced plans to manufacture artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer chips entirely within the U.S. for the first time.

The semiconductor giant revealed its intention to construct AI servers valued at $500 billion in the United States over the next four years, with operations centered in Houston and Dallas, Texas.
Production has already commenced at chip fabs in Phoenix, Arizona, operated by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
“NVIDIA is collaborating with its manufacturing partners to design and establish facilities that will, for the first time, manufacture NVIDIA AI supercomputers solely in the U.S.,” the company stated in a blog post.
“Production of NVIDIA Blackwell chips has begun at TSMC’s facilities in Phoenix, Arizona. Nvidia is developing supercomputer manufacturing sites in Texas, partnering with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. Mass production at both facilities is projected to significantly increase in the next 12-15 months,” the announcement elaborated. “In collaboration with leading manufacturing partners, the company has secured over a million square feet of manufacturing space to produce and test NVIDIA Blackwell chips in Arizona and AI supercomputers in Texas.”
“NVIDIA aims to generate up to half a trillion dollars’ worth of AI infrastructure in the United States over the next four years in partnership with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL. These leading companies are strengthening their collaboration with NVIDIA, expanding their businesses while enhancing their global presence and improving supply chain resilience.”
Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, remarked that “the engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time. Increasing U.S. manufacturing allows us to better satisfy the overwhelming and rising demand for AI chips and supercomputers, fortifying our supply chain and enhancing our resilience.”
This announcement follows President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 32% tariff on Taiwan, a critical center for Nvidia’s chip manufacturing.
In response, the White House remarked that this shift exemplifies “the Trump Effect in action.”
“Bringing these industries back to the U.S. is beneficial for American workers, the economy, and national security – and the best is still to come,” the White House noted.
