Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old who confessed to fatally stabbing fellow student Austin Metcalf during a Texas track meet, has been relocated to an “undisclosed location” following an outpouring of death threats.

As reported by FOX4, Anthony’s family expressed their “grave concerns” after experiencing a notable surge in threats and harassment over the past weekend.

The Next Generation Action Network, which represents the family, revealed that people have been congregating outside their residence and sending them Metcalf’s obituary. They also reported instances of individuals ordering fake food deliveries in a calculated attempt to instill fear and intimidation.

The network stated that the court has sanctioned the suspect’s relocation to “guarantee his immediate safety.”

“It is both heartbreaking and infuriating to witness the pervasive hate and bigotry that still exists in our society,” said Dominique Alexander, a minister affiliated with the group, in a statement.

“No family should endure a siege simply because they are asserting their constitutional rights. We will not remain silent, nor will we relent,” the statement emphasized.

“We are dedicated to taking whatever measures are necessary to safeguard this family and ensure that justice is pursued without fear or intimidation.”

Anthony had been reportedly residing in a $900,000 home with his family after a judge granted him house arrest while awaiting his trial. He was incarcerated in the Collin County Jail following the charge of fatally stabbing Metcalf, leaving him to die “in his twin brother’s arms” during a track event in Frisco on April 2nd.

The tragic incident unfolded when Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School, asked Anthony, a student from Centennial High School, to relocate from under his school’s pop-up tent during a rain delay — a request that Anthony denied, according to the arrest documentation.

Witnesses told police that Anthony then opened a bag, reached inside, and warned Metcalf: “Touch me and see what happens.” Subsequently, as Metcalf attempted to grab Anthony to insist he move, Anthony brandished a black knife and stabbed Austin once in the chest.

Hunter, Metcalf’s twin brother, rushed to assist Austin, but was unable to save him.

“I placed my hand on [his chest], trying to stem the bleeding, and I held his head, looking into his eyes. I just saw his soul depart. It took my soul as well,” Hunter recounted in an emotional interview with Fox News the following day.

Although Anthony attempted to flee the scene, he was swiftly apprehended.

“I’m not alleged, I did it,” Anthony admitted to police during his arrest, according to the incident report. “I was protecting myself,” he claimed. “He put his hands on me.”
