Patty Morin’s Critique of Van Hollen: Letters to the Editor
The Concern: The mother of murdered Maryland woman Rachel Morin criticizes Sen. Van Hollen’s actions.
Patty Morin poses the vital questions that all reasoning Americans should be asking: Why have those in power allowed violent illegal aliens into our nation to perpetrate rape, vandalism, and murder against Americans (“Mom critiques non-sen.-se pol,” April 17)?
Sen. Chris Van Hollen should be compelled to meet with the families of Rachel Morin and Laken Riley to hear the tragic stories of what these illegal aliens did to their children.
There is so much wrong with Van Hollen’s actions that it is hard to comprehend.
If his own family were affected directly, perhaps his perspective would change.

Van Hollen’s selective outrage reveals his true priorities: political theater over constitutional integrity.
His international advocacy tour, complete with press conferences and social media updates, is more about boosting his image while neglecting the daily struggles faced by numerous American citizens.
If due process holds significance for Van Hollen only when it attracts media attention for a noncitizen, it’s not a matter of principle—it’s mere posturing.
Americans merit representatives who vigorously defend their constitutional rights just as fiercely as they advocate for noncitizens.
Until that happens, Van Hollen’s campaign can only be seen as cynical political theater cloaked in constitutional rhetoric.

Van Hollen has disregarded the pleas of another murder victim’s mother while traveling to El Salvador to assist an alleged MS-13 member.
Fortunately, President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador has allied with President Trump and will send Van Hollen home empty-handed and embarrassed.
In reality, Bukele is offering more protection to the American populace than Van Hollen ever could.

It’s absurd: The mock outrage from some people criticizing Democratic politicians for venturing to El Salvador to aid an alleged gang member.
Accountability lies with you; you elected these individuals.

Van Hollen continually avoids questions regarding whether Kilmar Abrego Garcia is an MS-13 gang member, as President Trump claims.
Why is this significant?
Regardless, Abrego Garcia was a criminal in the United States under 8 US Code 1325.
Illegal entrants violate this statute by avoiding inspection or by entering under false pretenses, which can be deemed a felony and a criminal offense.

The Concern: Cornell University’s campus concert featuring an anti-Semitic artist Kehlani.
Cornell University’s decision to invite the anti-Semitic celebrity Kehlani to perform on campus is absolutely reprehensible (“Ivy hate invite,” April 21).
This action supports the commendable initiative by the Trump administration to freeze $1 billion in federal funding to that oblivious institution.
Cornell’s feeble excuse was that it was merely catering to student preferences.
Goodness: I hope the student board’s next request is not for a performance by a band called “Adolf and the Nazis.”

Cornell clearly hasn’t gleaned any lessons from the experiences of Columbia and Harvard universities.
What a blatant illustration of Cornell’s sheer indifference to its Jewish community.
The individual responsible for permitting this performance should be dismissed.
There is no place for hateful rhetoric to contaminate minds on college campuses.
Unquestionably, President Trump will be aware of this conduct and retaliate by significantly impacting Cornell’s funding.
