Defense to Resume Cross-Examination of Complainant Today in Hockey Players’ Trial
Defense attorneys are expected to resume their cross-examination of the complainant today in the sexual assault trial involving five former members of Canada’s world junior hockey team.
The woman began her testimony last Friday, detailing her experience at a bar and hotel in downtown London, Ont., in June 2018.
On Monday, she described feeling as if she went on “autopilot” while in the hotel room, believing she had to acquiesce to the desires of the men present.
Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, and Callan Foote have all entered not guilty pleas to sexual assault charges. Additionally, McLeod has pleaded not guilty to a charge related to being a party to the offense of sexual assault.
Court proceedings have revealed that the five accused, along with several of their teammates, were in London for a few days in June 2018 to participate in celebrations marking their championship victory.
The complainant, who was 20 years old at the time, is protected from identification by a standard publication ban.
