JetBlue Scales Back Routes, Axes Flights Between Key Cities

JetBlue is planning to cut a number of mostly domestic U.S. routes and reduce the frequency of others in 2025, citing the need to remove “underperforming” flights from its schedule and redeploy resources to more profitable opportunities, The Epoch Times has learned.

The carrier said in a statement viewed by The Epoch Times that more than a dozen routes, including flights connecting Florida, New York, and Texas, are set to end next year. Additionally, some international and domestic routes will transition to seasonal service or see reductions in available seat classes, with the changes part of the carrier’s JetForward strategic plan.

First announced in September, the strategy indicated JetBlue was planning around 50 route exits by the end of the year, reducing unprofitable routes and redeploying aircraft to service more financially lucrative routes, in particular to the U.S. East Coast. Now JetBlue is building on the previously announced changes by making additional route adjustments as it pursues efficiency and profit.

“As part of our JetForward strategic plan, JetBlue is focused on building a network that best serves our customers and supports our long-term success,” JetBlue said in the statement.

JetBlue has confirmed that the following routes will be discontinued or will not return in 2025:

Westchester, New York (HPN)–Charleston, South Carolina (CHS)
Jacksonville, Florida (JAX)–Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL)
New York (JFK)–Austin, Texas (AUS)
New York (JFK)–Houston, Texas (IAH)
New York (JFK)–Miami, Florida (MIA)
New York (JFK)–Milwaukee, Wisconsin (MKE)
San Jose, California (SJC)–All flights, to and from

In addition to the domestic cuts, JetBlue is axing its seasonal summer service between New York (JFK) and London–Gatwick (LGW) but will maintain service to London–Heathrow (LHR).

Several other routes will see reduced service. Flights between Boston (BOS) and Phoenix (PHX), Boston and Grenada (GND), and New York and Tulum (TQO) will operate only in winter. Additionally, the second daily summer seasonal flight between New York and Paris (CDG) will be discontinued.

Seattle routes will also change, with all flights operating exclusively on JetBlue’s “all-core” planes, which do not include the airline’s premium Mint seating.

JetBlue’s route reductions are accompanied by plans to redeploy resources to high-demand markets, including expanded European destinations, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
