Family slammed the Hong Kong authorities for not releasing data of vaccine-related sickness

Siu Yick-tung, an 11-year-old girl from Hong Kong, was admitted to hospital with chest pains three weeks after receiving the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination. She was later diagnosed with myocarditis. Siu’s condition deteriorated sharply at the time, and she had to be admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Siu’s aunt posted updates on social media on the morning of July 9, 2022, that after being in the hospital for a month, the 11-year-old could finally be discharged and return home on July 8, 2022.

Siu thanked everyone who had been cheering for her health via her aunt: “I am much better now. Even the doctor said that my recovery was progressing quickly. Thank you all, and you don’t have to worry about me anymore.”

Complications After the Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination

Yick-tung received the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine three weeks before her diagnosis. Her aunt criticized the authorities, saying they would never release data showing any vaccine-related illness.

Nonetheless, on June 8, 2022, the local girl’s condition unexpectedly deteriorated, and she needed to be sent to the ICU of the children’s hospital for emergency treatment. Siu was in a critical condition by the time she was in the ambulance. An artificial cardiopulmonary machine was used to maintain the heart and lung functions to reduce the workload on her heart.

When The doctors notified Siu’s family that she could finally leave the hospital after a month-long battle with Myocarditis, her family was thrilled and described the experience as “to hell and back again.”

Siu’s aunt also revealed that Siu would require a wheelchair for the time being while she would continue to exercise and regain the strength of her leg muscles.
