The National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) passed a resolution on Oct. 9 urging state officials and Congress members to work to stop organ harvesting of prisoners in China during a meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The resolution was submitted by Norman Reece, president of the Solano Republican Assembly. The resolution calls for an immediate end to the unethical persecution of Falun Gong and forced organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“I think it’s important to continue holding the Communist Party of China accountable for the atrocities that they’re doing. This is one of the worst [religious persecutions],” Reece told The Epoch Times.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual practice rooted in the Buddhist tradition. The practice encourages letting go of unhealthy attachments and living in accordance with truth, compassion, and forbearance.

After the practice was introduced in China in 1992, it soon became popular for its health benefits, stress relief, and mental clarity.

In 1999, CCP statistics estimated over 90 million Falun Gong practitioners were in China when its former chairman, Jiang Zemin, launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the spiritual practice.

The resolution explained that the CCP has continuously denied harvesting organs without the consent of prisoners, yet prevented independent verification of its organ transplant system.

Reece condemned the CCP’s violation of the World Health Organization’s requirements of transparency and traceability in organ procurement pathways and its persecution aimed at the hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in China since 1999.

The resolution emphasized that Falun Gong practitioners make up the largest portion of prisoners of conscience in China, and face the risk of the CCP’s forced organ harvesting industry.

Reece said that many media outlets are silents on reporting on this topic because they feel threatened or have received funds from the CCP.

The nonprofit International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse in China initiated the China Tribunal to investigate and address the evidence regarding forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in China.

“Forced organ harvesting has been committed for years throughout China on a significant scale and that Falun Gong practitioners have been one—and probably the main—source of organ supply,” according to China Tribunal’s judgment.

“The concerted persecution and medical testing of the Uyghurs is more recent and it may be that evidence of forced organ harvesting of this group may emerge in due course. The Tribunal has had no evidence that the significant infrastructure associated with China’s transplantation industry has been dismantled and absent a satisfactory explanation as to the source of readily available organs concludes that forced organ harvesting continues till today.”

The NFRA called on the U.S. Department of State to conduct a more detailed analysis on state-sanctioned organ harvesting from non-consenting prisoners of conscience in the annual Human Rights Reports, demand an immediate end to the 22-year persecution of the Faun Gong spiritual practice by the CCP and its government.

Over the 22-year persecution, Falun Gong practitioners have continuously sought justice for their friends and family members who were persecuted or whose organs were forcibly harvested.

As of today, five congressional resolutions that call on the CCP to cease the persecution of Falun Gong passed the House under the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners. All these resolutions are calling on the CCP to cease its persecution of Falun Gong partitioners.
