10% of Kansas Voters Cast Primary Protest Votes Against Biden

Concerns among Democrats regarding the Biden administration’s approach to Israel’s conflict in the Gaza Strip have been evident in the presidential primaries of Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington.

In all four states, votes for “uncommitted” or “no preference” secured at least 9% of the vote, placing second behind the president. Minnesota (18.9%) and Michigan (13.2%) observed the highest percentages of protest votes.

This trend persisted in Kansas, as “none of these candidates” received 10.2% of the vote with 94% of precincts reporting, as per Decision Desk HQ, which confirmed Biden’s victory.

Notably, this category held a substantial lead of 27.8 percentage points in Rawlins County and 35.8 points in Sheridan County in northwest Kansas, as well as a minor 5.3-point advantage in Ness County in west-central Kansas.

Although “uncommitted” was not an option in Illinois, pro-Palestinian organizations urged voters to write in “Gaza,” as detailed by The New York Times. The total number of votes for “Gaza” remains unknown.

In Michigan, over 100,000 individuals voted “uncommitted,” along with more than 87,000 in Washington, and over 45,000 in Minnesota. Nearly 59,000 individuals in Massachusetts voted “no preference.” Concerns have arisen among Democrats that Biden’s handling of the Gaza conflict could potentially benefit former President Donald Trump, the anticipated GOP nominee in the upcoming election, as Michigan and Minnesota are crucial battleground states.
