100s of Teenagers Wreak Havoc in Chicago; Interview With Shooting Survivor

Chicago has been named the murder capital of the United States for the last 11 years running.

This comes as on Saturday evening, hundreds of hundreds of teenagers wreaked havoc in Downtown Chicago by smashing car windows, destroying both public and private property, setting cars on fire, and even attempting to enter Millennium Park—which then prompted a significant police response. There was even a shooting that resulted in multiple injuries. Two teenagers were wounded by the gunfire near the corner of Madison and Michigan.

However, these problems—all of the homicides, violence, burglaries, and general lawlessness—are destroying Chicago’s prospect of turning things around. That’s because, after years of enduring these problems (including a district attorney who refused to prosecute shoplifters if they stole below a thousand dollars worth of merchandise), many companies are packing up. Tyson Foods, Boeing, Caterpillar, Citadel, and Highland Ventures are all moving out of the state.
