19-Year-Old Killed in Santa Ana Shooting, Police Seek Witnesses

SANTA ANA, Calif.—Santa Ana police Dec. 10 asked for information from the public about the recent shooting death of a 19-year-old man.

Fernando Nunez was found about 8 p.m. Nov. 23 at 700 W. Third St. suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, according to a police press release.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics took Nunez to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition until his death Nov. 26, police said.

Detectives believe the shooting may have been gang-related but are searching for witnesses who can provide leads.

Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives at 714- 245-8390 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.

The case is eligible for the Santa Ana Gang Reward Program which provides rewards of $100 to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of gang homicide suspects depending upon the value of information given and involvement in the prosecution of the suspect, according to the city’s website.
