2022 General: Orange County Election Results

Orange County resident turnout was 33.6 percent in the Nov. 8 General Election, according to unofficial results from the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

Out of 1,817,149 registered voters, 611,060 cast ballots—either by mail, submitting their ballot at a certified drop box, or by voting in person at a vote center.

Here is the most updated report, as of 11:30 a.m. Nov. 9, per the California Secretary of State’s and OC Registrar of Voters’ offices.

U.S. Representatives

38th District

Democrat Linda T. Sanchez had 50.3 percent of the vote, compared to Republican Eric J. Ching with 46.7 percent.

40th District

Incumbent Republican Young Kim led with 59.2 percent of the vote over Democrat Asif Mahmood, who was at 40.8 percent.

45th District

Incumbent Republican Michelle Steel had received 55.3 percent of the vote against Democrat Jay Chen, who had 44.7 percent of the vote.

46th District

Democrat Lou Correa led by 58.1 percent of the vote against Republican Christopher Gonzales with 41.9 percent.

47th District

In a close race, Democrat Katie Porter had 50.3 percent of the vote against Republican Scott Baugh, who received 49.7 percent.

49th District

In another close race, Democrat Mike Levin received 51percent of the vote against Republican Bryan Maryott, who had 49 percent.

California Senate

30th District

Republican Mitch Clemmons trailed with 43.4 percent of the vote against Democrat Bob Archuleta, who received 56.6 percent.

32nd District

Republican Kelly Seyarto received 59.2 percent of the vote compared to Democrat Brian Nash, who received 40.8 percent.

34th District

Democrat Tom Umberg had received 54.8 percent of the vote against Republican Rhonda Shader, who received 45.2 percent.

36th District

Republican Janet Nguyen won 58.4 percent of the vote against Democrat Kim Carr, who received 41.6 percent.

38th District

In a near neck and neck race, Democrat Catherine Blakespear received 50.3 percent of the vote against Republican Matt Gunderson who had 49.7 percent.

California Assembly

59th District

Republican Phillip Chen had a commanding lead with 72.3 percent of the votes against Leon Sit, who received 27.7 percent.

64th District

Democrat Rose Espinoza was ahead with 56 percent of the vote, while Republican Raul Ortiz Jr. received 44 percent.

67th District

Republican Soo Yoo took the lead in a tight race with 50.3 percent of the vote against Democrat Sharon Quirk-Silva, who received 49.7 percent.

68th District

Democrat Avelino Valencia received 57.9 percent of the vote against Republican Mike Tardif, who received 42.1 percent.

70th District

Republican Tri Ta received 55.6 percent of the vote against Democrat Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen, who received 44.4 percent.

71st District

Republican Matt Rahn received 50.2 percent of the vote in a close race against Republican Kate Sanchez, who received 49.8 percent.

72nd District

Republican Diane Dixon was ahead with 57 percent of the vote against Democrat Judie Mancuso, who received 43 percent.

73nd District

Democrat Cottie Petrie-Norris received 53.8 percent of the vote against Republican Steven Choi, who received 46.2 percent.

74th District

Republican Laurie Davis received 54.2 percent over Democrat Chris Duncan, with 45.8 percent.

Orange County Supervisor

Orange County Supervisor 2nd District

Kim Bernice Nguyen was slightly ahead with 50.16 percent of the vote against Vicente Sarmiento, who had 49.84 percent.

Orange County Supervisor 4th District

Incumbent Doug Chaffee led with 56.96 percent of the vote, compared with Sunny Park, who received 43.05 percent.

Orange County Supervisor 5th District

Katrina Foley had a slight lead, receiving 50.93 percent of the vote against Patricia Bates, who received 49.07 percent.

Ballot Measures

G – Capistrano Unified School District SFID No. 3 Bond Measure

This measure received NO votes at 54.28 percent and YES votes at 45.72 percent.

H – Santa Ana Unified School District Term Limits

This measure received YES votes at 86.51 percent and NO votes at 13.49 percent.

I – City of Aliso Viejo, Councilmember Term Limits

This measure received YES votes at 83.99 percent and NO votes at 16.01 percent.

J – City of Anaheim, Anaheim Hotel Tax (TOT Measure)

This measure received YES votes at 58.28 percent and NO votes at 41.72 percent.

K – City of Costa Mesa, Ordinance to Revitalize Commercial and Industrial Areas and Protect Residential Neighborhoods

This measure received NO votes at 50.09 percent and YES votes at 49.91 percent.

L – City of Huntington Beach, Charter Amendment Measure 1

This measure received NO votes at 58.76 percent and YES votes at 41.24 percent.

M – City of Huntington Beach, Charter Amendment Measure 2

This measure received NO votes at 60.50 percent and YES votes at 39.50 percent.

N – City of Huntington Beach, Charter Amendment Measure 3

This measure received NO votes at 56.17 percent and YES votes at 43.83 percent.

O – City of Huntington Beach, Taxation on Cannabis Businesses

This measure received YES votes at 54.42 percent and NO votes at 45.58 percent.

P – City of La Palma, La Palma City Services Measure

This measure received YES votes at 71.54 percent and NO votes at 28.46 percent.

Q – City of Laguna Beach, Municipal Code Amendment to Create an Overlay Zoning District and Require Voter Approval of Major Development Projects

This measure received NO votes at 64.02 percent and YES votes at 35.98 percent.
