4 Children Injured in Meat Cleaver Attack; Suspect Shot by NYPD – One America News Network

Three young girls were attacked with a meat cleaver, and law enforcement shot the suspect when they arrived at the scene.

On Sunday, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced that police were dispatched to a home on 84th Street at approximately 10:15 a.m. after an injured 11-year-old girl called 9-1-1. She informed the authorities that she had locked herself in a room following an attack by her uncle, who had wounded her and her siblings.
“Upon their arrival, the officers heard distressing screams from behind a door to their left and immediately forced entry by kicking it down,” Tisch explained during a news conference at the scene.
“Once inside, they encountered a man standing near the entrance with a large, blood-covered meat cleaver. Blood was visibly present on the floor of the residence,” Tisch stated. “The officers repeatedly instructed the man to drop the weapon, but he refused and moved towards them.”
“Two officers fired their weapons a total of seven times, striking the suspect and neutralizing the threat,” she said.
According to her, the four girls—aged 16, 13, 11, and 8—sustained “serious cuts and stab wounds” and were immediately transported to Maimonides Medical Center.
Tisch also confirmed that all of the girls are projected to survive.
“This situation could have had a very different outcome,” Tisch remarked.
She mentioned that a fifth child, a boy, had been in the apartment prior to the incident and fled to seek help when the attack began.
“Currently, we are aware of five children, four of whom were harmed,” she said. “The suspect may be the father or uncle of some of the children, and we believe that the mother was not present at the time.”
The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Lun Chang Chen, was also taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to authorities. He is believed to have resided in the home where this tragic event occurred.
The motive behind this brutal attack is currently under investigation.
Social media posts have depicted one of the injured girls outside the building, covered in blood.
