7.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Humboldt County; Tsunami Warning Issued – One America News Network

A significant earthquake that hit a city in northern California has now led to a tsunami warning.

The recent quake, which was initially recorded as a magnitude 6.6 off the coast of Humboldt County, was later updated by the U.S. Geological Survey to a magnitude of 7.0.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 61 miles west-southwest of Ferndale, in Humboldt County, and it occurred at 10:44 a.m.

After the main quake, an aftershock was recorded with a magnitude of 5.8 near Cobb, California, in Lake County.

A tsunami warning has been issued for the California Coast, affecting nearly 5 million residents.

The Thursday quake marks the largest to impact the Golden State in five years, with the last significant event being a 7.1 earthquake in Ridgecrest in 2019.
