The rapid response efforts by President Donald Trump have persisted with nationwide Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations during the initial week of his re-election. On Sunday alone, the agency recorded at least 956 arrests.

As of Thursday, it was reported that over 1,300 individuals had been detained, according to border czar Tom Homan.

On Monday, ICE shared another infographic on X, announcing that they had executed 1,170 arrests, along with 853 detainers on the 27th.

High-ranking officials from the Trump administration, including border czar Tom Homan, visited Chicago on Sunday to observe the start of intensified illegal immigration enforcement efforts in the city.

Images featuring Bove and Homan with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Customs and Border Protection were posted on X by the DEA’s Chicago division.

Homan disclosed to Ali Bradley of NewsNation that several “public safety threats,” which included members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang, convicted murderers, and sex offenders, had been apprehended.

Sources revealed that five members of the Tren de Aragua gang were detained at the onset of the Chicago deportation initiative, coming just days after speculation that the city would be the focus of extensive deportation operations.

In contrast, Governor JB Pritzker (D-Ill.) and progressive leaders in Chicago have stubbornly vowed to protect immigrant communities from large-scale deportations.

Beyond Illinois, other Democratic state governors are also asserting that they will not permit deportations in their jurisdictions or will refrain from aiding in the initiatives. Governor Katie Hobbs (D-Ariz.) stated that Arizona officials will not assist the Trump administration with their enforcement measures.

“We’re going to stand up to the administration just as I have from day one when they’re not doing right by Arizonans,” Hobbs declared last Friday.

“Harboring — Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it a crime for any individual who — knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States unlawfully, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any location, including any building or any means of transportation,” the DOJ stated.

Furthermore, anyone “illegally harboring an alien may face fines and a maximum of five years in prison,” as reported by Dhar Law LLP.

The official White House website, now under the Trump administration, articulates the rationale behind the current crackdown on illegal immigration.
