A judge appointed by Trump receives an envelope containing a white substance
An envelope with a white substance addressed to Arthur Engoron, the New York City judge who oversaw former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial, was discovered Wednesday in the downtown Manhattan courthouse where he works, causing an emergency response from police and fire officials, according to news reports.
The incident occurred at 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday.
Last week, Engoron imposed a $355 million judgment against Trump.
Two court officers were exposed to the substance, but initial tests on the powder came back negative, as reported by ABC News.
The New York Post also reported that New York state Attorney General Letitia James received a suspicious envelope at her Albany office.
Engoron has faced multiple threats since presiding over Trump’s fraud civil trial.
Last month, authorities responded to a bomb threat at Engoron’s Long Island home the day after he ruled against Trump delivering his own closing statements in the civil fraud case. Fortunately, nothing suspicious was found.
