Many individuals continue to face “late effects” or “long-term side effects” stemming from their cancer treatments, even after being considered “cancer-free.” These lingering issues can manifest in various forms, such as fatigue, pain, nerve damage, infertility, and cognitive challenges, depending on the cancer type and treatment received.
In a recent post on Instagram, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, shared pictures from her unexpected visit to the hospital where she underwent cancer treatments.
After announcing her diagnosis in March 2024, the British royal received care at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
“I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to The Royal Marsden for their exceptional care over the past year,” she remarked.
“It brings me great relief to share that I am now in remission and I am devoted to my recovery,” she added in her caption. “Anyone who has dealt with a cancer diagnosis understands that it takes time to settle into a new normal. Nevertheless, I am eager for the fulfilling year that lies ahead. There is much to be excited about. My heartfelt thanks to everyone for your ongoing support.”
Being in “remission” indicates that your cancer treatment has successfully eliminated or diminished the symptoms and signs of cancer in your body. While remission doesn’t equate to a cure, it signifies a positive development — meaning there is no “active” cancer present.
In September 2024, the mother of three announced that she had finished her chemotherapy treatments.
