According to CNN Poll, DeSantis Supporters are More Likely to Vote for Trump
A recent CNN poll conducted from Jan. 16 to Jan. 19 reveals that supporters of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who withdrew from the 2024 race on Sunday, are more inclined to support former President Donald Trump as their second choice rather than former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
The poll, carried out for CNN by the University of New Hampshire, shows that 62% of likely GOP New Hampshire voters who selected DeSantis as their first choice opted for Trump as their second choice. The remaining 30% chose Haley.
DeSantis declared his support for Trump on Sunday. “I signed a pledge,” the Florida governor said on X, “to support the Republican nominee and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear: a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.”
The poll surveyed 2,348 respondents, including 1,242 likely 2024 Republican primary voters, and had a margin of error of ±2.8%.
