According to Rasmussen Poll, Just 31% of People Approve of Biden’s Middle East Policy

President Joe Biden’s approach to Israel and the Middle East is causing division in the country, with differing opinions from young people and left-wing Democrats who believe he is too aligned with Israel, and Republicans and conservatives who think he is too pro-Palestinian.

In a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 31% of likely U.S. voters approve of Biden’s handling of Israel and Middle East issues, while 46% give him a poor rating.

Regarding the current conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, 21% feel Biden’s policy leans too much towards Israel, 34% think it’s too pro-Palestinian, and 26% believe it’s balanced.

43% of respondents believe Trump’s policies towards Israel and Palestinians would be better if he were elected this year, while 37% think they would be worse than Biden’s.

Trump has historically been more supportive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in Israel, while Biden has criticized Israel’s response in Gaza as excessive.

71% of Republicans, 19% of Democrats, and 40% of unaffiliated voters believe Trump’s policies towards Israel and Palestinians would be superior to Biden’s. On the other hand, 65% of Democrats, 14% of Republicans, and 30% of unaffiliated voters think Trump’s policies would be worse.

Democrats are more likely than Republicans to think Biden is too pro-Israel, while Republicans are more likely to view his policy as too pro-Palestinian. A majority of Democrats rate Biden’s handling of the Israel and Middle East issues positively, compared to fewer Republicans and unaffiliated voters.

Men are slightly more inclined than women to believe Biden’s policy is too pro-Palestinian. Disapproval of Biden’s policies is consistent across all racial groups and increases with age.

The survey of 1,093 likely voters was conducted in April 2024 by Rasmussen Reports with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Field work was conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
