All GOP Candidates Unanimously Support Israel in Conflict
Republican presidential candidates expressed their unwavering support for Israel during the GOP’s third debate on Wednesday amidst Israel’s retaliation against Hamas, a terrorist group.
Key statements were made by several candidates, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, who urged Israel to take decisive action against Hamas.
DeSantis stated, “Hamas should release every hostage and unconditionally surrender. I’m sick of hearing others blame Israel for defending itself. We will stand with Israel in word and in deed, in public and in private.”
When asked about supporting a humanitarian pause, Haley emphasized that the United States should not dictate Israel’s actions and should instead support them in eliminating Hamas. She highlighted the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship.
While Vivek Ramaswamy expressed his unequivocal support for Israel, he cautioned against the conflict escalating to involve the United States and made a critical remark about Haley’s post-administration job on Boeing’s board of directors.
Former President Donald Trump, who did not attend the debate, remains the front-runner in the Republican primary field by a significant margin according to a FiveThirtyEight average of polls. Other participants in the debate included DeSantis, Haley, Ramaswamy, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and Scott.
