The Department of Justice has lost its appeal, confirming that former President Donald Trump can be called to testify in lawsuits filed against it by former FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. Strzok is suing for wrongful termination, while Page is suing for invasion of privacy. The lower court had previously ruled the same way. The lawsuits stem from a political scandal in 2018 in which text messages between Strzok and Page were made public, revealing their bias against Trump during the investigation into alleged Russian ties. The DOJ argued that testimony from Trump was not necessary as FBI Director Christopher Wray and former Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly had already testified. However, the appeals court upheld the lower court’s ruling, stating that it was correct in allowing Trump to be deposed on limited subjects relevant to the lawsuits.
