Attorney Scharf Tells Newsmax: Trump Trial is ‘Smoke and Mirrors’
According to Donald Trump’s attorney Will Scharf, the prosecution against the former president has turned a technical business records case into a shameful sideshow trial that they won’t be able to prove. Speaking to Newsmax on Monday, Scharf dismissed Michael Cohen’s testimony and stated that the prosecution has not yet proven their case.
Joined by “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Scharf explained that the allegations involve technical business records violations from 2016 and 2017, but there is insufficient evidence to support these claims. He criticized the prosecution for introducing highly prejudicial but not probative evidence in an effort to confuse the jury.
Scharf, a former assistant U.S. attorney currently running for Republican Attorney General in Missouri, criticized Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s handling of the case. He described the prosecution as “Banana Republic stuff” and not reflective of the standard criminal proceedings in the United States.
