Authoritarian Regimes Exploit Technology to Undermine Democracy: Blinken

Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to uphold democratic values amidst efforts by authoritarian and repressive regimes to utilize technology to undermine democracy and human rights.

Blinken highlighted the collaboration of like-minded governments and their citizens in promoting free and fair elections, stressing that safeguarding democracy requires a joint effort.

Speaking at the opening of the Summit for Democracy in South Korea, Blinken stated, “As authoritarian and repressive regimes use technology to undermine democracy and human rights, it is essential to ensure that technology upholds and bolsters democratic values and norms.”
