An investigator involved with the case has expressed optimism that 2025 may be the breakthrough year for solving this cold case.

“I can’t pinpoint what it will take to bring this case to a conclusion,” the investigator commented, “but it feels like we’re getting closer. We are optimistic for 2025; this will be our year.”

In 2023, the former police chief of Boulder established a multi-agency task force to address the ongoing investigation.

According to the investigator, while the task force has only convened in person once, they maintain regular communication among themselves.

“It hasn’t progressed as vigorously as we had hoped,” noted the investigator, “but there is considerable pressure to solve this case now.”

JonBenet was murdered in her Boulder, Colorado, home back in December 1996.

On December 26th of that year, John and Patsy Ramsey awoke to find their daughter missing along with a handwritten ransom note discovered on the stairs.

Later that day, John Ramsey discovered JonBenet’s lifeless body in the basement.

An autopsy indicated that she had been sexually assaulted and strangled, and it was revealed that her skull had been fractured. Trace DNA was found under her nails and in her underwear.

John Ramsey, who is collaborating with Netflix on the upcoming docuseries “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey?” believes advancements in DNA technology could facilitate renewed investigative efforts into JonBenet’s murder.

In 2008, both John and Patsy Ramsey, along with their son, were exonerated as suspects in the case.
