On January 17th, officials from the U.S. Forest Service indicated that the suspects were observed allegedly taking fire equipment from a strike team that was addressing a “high wind event” in Rancho Cucamonga around 3:00 a.m.
The strike team had stationed their engine behind a Hilton Hotel, where cameras recorded two male suspects “forcibly opening” three locked compartments of the engine and removing crucial firefighting tools.
Reports indicate that the suspects subsequently fled in a red two-door Jeep Wrangler, featuring a black soft top, tan seats, and a California license plate that partially begins with the number “6.”
The first suspect is described as a man between 5-foot-7 and 6-feet tall, with a “large build and a thin mustache.” He was last observed wearing a black knit hat, a red jacket with yellow accents on the shoulders and sides, and blue pants.
The second suspect is characterized as being between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, with a “husky build.” He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap with an undisclosed white logo, a blue long-sleeve shirt, and baggy jeans.
