Ben Carson Tells Newsmax: Strict Regulations Impacting Available COVID-19 Treatments

Dr. Ben Carson, former HUD secretary and retired neurosurgeon, criticized the public health response to COVID-19 during an interview with Newsmax on Monday. He raised issues of credibility and unreasonable rules hindering effective treatment.

Appearing on “Prime News,” Carson, a former member of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet, expressed concerns about the credibility of the U.S. public health system. He compared the credibility hit to that of the justice system and emphasized the need to rebuild trust in both institutions.

“There were so many things that happened, like crazy rules,” Carson said. “For instance, suppressing treatments like Advair, hydroxychloroquine, and ivermectin to prioritize Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for other medications.”

Carson argued for exploring all possible avenues for treatment during a pandemic and criticized the lack of consideration for international data, mentioning the success of hydroxychloroquine in Africa and ivermectin in India.

He also addressed concerns about mandates, particularly for children, highlighting the impact of masking on language development and social interactions. Carson emphasized the economic and social consequences of mandates, noting job losses in industries like the military and aviation.

Regarding warnings of a COVID-19 reemergence, Carson noted public skepticism and expressed sadness over the isolation of patients during the pandemic due to arbitrary rules.

This interview coincided with Dr. Anthony Fauci’s testimony before a House subcommittee on pandemic recommendations and public health officials’ email use.
