Biden Administration Directs the Release of Migrants into the US in Spite of Ban

The Biden administration contradicted its own executive order on illegal immigration just two days after its issuance. U.S. border agents in southwestern California were instructed to release migrants from 94 out of 100 countries in the Eastern Hemisphere into the United States, as reported by the Washington Examiner on Friday.

A leaked Border Patrol document revealed the new guidance to federal law enforcement in the San Diego region, stating: “Please see updated Presidential Proclamation guidance below, this is effective immediately.”

Under this new guidance, only adults from Georgia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will be referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for speedy removal, while everyone else will be allowed to enter the U.S. to await their asylum process.

The report highlighted that illegal immigrants from Asia, Europe, and Africa are encountered daily in the San Diego region and are more challenging to repatriate.

The new guidance directly contradicts the information provided by Biden administration officials on Tuesday regarding President Joe Biden’s restrictions on asylum seekers.

A Customs Border Protection official informed the Examiner on Friday that agents in the San Diego region would “continue” to put migrants “of all nationalities” into expedited removal proceedings, contradicting the initial memo seen by the Examiner. The lack of funding was cited as impacting the original executive order.

The New York Post reported on Thursday that tens of thousands of migrants could be exempt from Biden’s new order if their home countries refuse to take them back. This would lead to these individuals being either processed for Expedited Removal or placed into section 240 removal proceedings, which means they would be released into the U.S., similar to the situation before Biden’s order.

Former President Donald Trump criticized the situation as a “public relations executive order,” stating that it allows massive numbers of people to still come in and is based on misinformation and disinformation.
