Biden Border Policy Criticized by RFK Jr.

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Friday criticized President Joe Biden for the border crisis and stated that “the Mexican drug cartels are driving American border policy.”

“Every city in this country has now become a border town,” Kennedy said in Austin, Texas, referring to New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ statement about the impact of immigrants on his city.

Meanwhile, thousands of migrants entered the border town of Eagle Pass, Texas, last week; and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reportedly chartered buses on Friday to transport migrants from Eagle Pass and Del Rio, Texas, to New York City.

Kennedy also criticized the Biden administration’s decision to grant work permits to 470,000 Venezuelan immigrants already in the country.

“Giving 470,000 migrants work visas sends a signal to the rest of the world that anyone who comes to this country will receive a work visa,” he said. “And that is the last message we want to send right now. We should not be discussing work visas for anyone until the border is secure.

“Since Biden was elected, 7 million immigrants have crossed the border illegally,” he said. “In the same period, only 3.1 million arrived legally. This means that the Mexican drug cartels are influencing American border policy.”

He called for bipartisanship to address the issue and urged Democrats to reconsider their positions.

“We need unity. This should not be a Democratic or Republican issue,” he said. “Democrats who have advocated for an open border policy need to reassess their beliefs based on the evidence now.

“And we need to quickly secure the borders. Only then can we consider work permits or amnesty programs. But we cannot sell these ideas to the American people until the borders are closed and secure.”

He promised that if elected president, he would make the border impenetrable to illegal migrants, but stressed that waiting a year and a half for that to happen is not feasible.

“That is why I am calling on Democratic and Republican leaders to come together on this issue. I am asking Democrats in particular to reconsider their assumption that an open border is more compassionate. It is not. It has created a humanitarian crisis for the migrants that is now damaging our cities, overwhelming our social services, and harming the working poor by suppressing wages.”
