Biden Calls for Universal Availability of COVID Vaccines
President Joe Biden recently announced that he has requested congressional funding for the development of a new COVID-19 vaccine. Biden had previously attempted to enforce vaccine mandates for private sector workers, but this was struck down by the Supreme Court. However, mandates for healthcare workers at federally-funded facilities remain in place. In May, Biden ended vaccine requirements for international travelers and federal employees. The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic is now launching an investigation into the government’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates and policies at federal agencies.
