Biden Plans to “Sign Away” Powers to WHO, Newsmax Interview with Gordon Chang
President Joe Biden is set to relinquish America’s powers to the World Health Organization (WHO) and its director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, through an executive agreement to tie the United States to two treaties under discussion regarding global pandemics. China expert Gordon Chang warns Newsmax that this move comes despite the WHO’s handling of the COVID crisis.
During an interview on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports,” Chang explained that the upcoming WHO meeting in Geneva will focus on amending the international health regulations and adopting a pandemic agreement. These documents, according to Chang, are broad enough to give Tedros, and by extension China, control over the United States even outside of a pandemic scenario. This potential transfer of power to Tedros could lead to a totalitarian world government, allowing him to dictate terms to the US.
Chang points out that Biden is unlikely to secure the two-thirds Senate vote required to sign the treaties, so he plans to sign them through an executive order. This move would grant Tedros the authority to seize American medical resources during a pandemic and demand unspecified annual financial contributions. Moreover, it would compel the US to adopt a “one health approach,” granting the WHO unchecked access to US treasury funds.
Chang also criticized Tedros for downplaying the transmissibility of COVID-19, which led to millions of deaths worldwide. He emphasized that the WHO’s track record, including its response to Ebola, does not warrant giving it more authority. Chang hopes that a future President, like presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, would revoke Biden’s executive order concerning the WHO.
