Biden Receives No Bump After State of the Union Address
President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address was met with unfavorable reactions from most Americans, as indicated by four post-speech polls, as reported by The Federalist.
A majority of registered voters (59%) in a HarrisX/Forbes poll felt that Biden’s speech further divided the country rather than unified it, with only 41% holding the opposite view.
However, Biden’s address did not significantly impact his approval ratings in numerous other polls, including YouGov, Yahoo, Rasmussen, FiveThirtyEight, and Morning Consult.
According to the FiveThirtyEight polling averages, Biden’s approval rating saw a slight decline from 38.1% on March 7 to 38% currently. In the Economist/YouGov poll, there was hardly any change in approval/disapproval ratios between March 3-5 (42% approval, 56% disapproval) and March 10-12 (42% approval, 55% disapproval).
Following Biden’s speech, a Yahoo News/YouGov survey revealed that former President Donald Trump and Biden were statistically tied in a potential head-to-head matchup, a tie that persists till present.
Prior to his speech, 40% of Americans approved of Biden’s performance as president, while 56% disapproved. Those numbers have now shifted slightly to 39% approval and 55% disapproval.
