Biden Travels to Florida in Response to Hurricane Idalia



President Joe Biden plans to visit Florida on Saturday to assess the aftermath of tropical storm Idalia and offer support. He made an unexpected appearance at the headquarters of FEMA and engaged with personnel, expressing the need for hope during disasters. Biden has been in communication with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis throughout the week. During his visit, the president may make a joint appearance with DeSantis, who is running for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Biden urged Congress to authorize $12 billion in funding for disaster relief. His trip to Pennsylvania has been rescheduled. FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell is already in Florida and participated in a press conference with DeSantis.
