On Tuesday, Angel Ureña, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, announced that Clinton was discharged from a hospital in Washington, D.C., where he had been receiving treatment for the flu.
Older adults are particularly at risk for severe flu complications, including pneumonia, due to weakened immune systems. According to WebMD, individuals over 65 are at a higher risk for serious flu-related issues, making it common for them to seek hospital care if they show symptoms.
“He and his family are extremely grateful for the outstanding care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and appreciate the kind messages and well wishes he has received,” Ureña stated.
“He sends his warmest wishes for a joyful and healthy holiday season to everyone,” Ureña conveyed.
Clinton was initially admitted on Monday for examination and monitoring.
“President Clinton was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital this afternoon for testing and monitoring after developing a fever,” Ureña noted. “He remains in good spirits and sincerely appreciates the excellent care he is receiving.”
