Bill Introduced by GOP Representative Ogles to Remove Funding for Jack Smith
Republican Representative Andy Ogles has introduced a bill to prevent federal funds from being used to pay the salary of special counsel Jack Smith. Smith has brought two federal indictments against former President Donald Trump, one in Florida over alleged classified documents and another in Washington, D.C., accusing Trump of conspiracy and obstruction to overturn the 2020 election. Ogles’ bill, called the “You’re Fired Act,” aims to block Smith from receiving a federal salary funded by taxpayers. Two other Republican representatives, Alex Mooney and Eli Crane, have co-sponsored the bill. Ogles and Crane both accuse the Biden administration’s Department of Justice of using Smith as a pawn to imprison political opposition and push a corrupt agenda. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges in the Washington, D.C., indictment, and prosecutors are seeking a trial date for January 2.
