On Monday, the company disclosed in a notice to Washington’s Employment Security Department that it plans to lay off 396 workers. The final working day for those affected is anticipated to be February 21st, 2025.
The notice outlines that the affected employees are based in Bremerton, Auburn, Everett, JBLM, Kent, Puyallup, Renton, Seattle, and Tukwila.
“Eligible employees will receive severance pay, career transition services, and subsidized health care benefits for up to three months following their departure from the company,” the statement from the company indicated earlier.
The decision for the layoffs comes as part of a strategy to “revitalize” the company after a challenging year that started in January when a panel from a Boeing aircraft detached mid-flight on an Alaska Airlines flight.
Moreover, Boeing was compelled to pause production of its bestselling 737 MAX aircraft due to an extended strike on the West Coast.
“As previously stated, we are adjusting our workforce to align with our financial circumstances and a more focused strategic direction. We are dedicated to ensuring our employees receive support during this difficult period,” Boeing remarked to FOX Business.
