British Ambassador Pierce Tells Newsmax: Putin’s Tactics are Failing
According to Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the United States, Russian President Vladmir Putin’s attempts to unsettle Europe are not succeeding, as reported by Newsmax on Thursday.
During an interview on “Newsline,” Pierce mentioned that Putin’s strategy involves creating instability among NATO allies and European countries.
“He uses threats of nuclear weapons and saber rattling to try and create fear and pressure on European governments,” Pierce explained. “Fortunately, NATO members have remained strong in resisting these tactics.”
Despite Putin’s actions, countries like the United Kingdom have continued to support Ukraine with financial aid, including a recent contribution of $4 billion, while the U.S. has passed its own aid package for the country, Pierce noted.
“Allies, particularly led by the U.S., have shown unwavering support for Ukraine,” Pierce stated. “Putin’s efforts to destabilize the situation have not been effective.”
Reports suggest that Russia is planning to increase its air and ground attacks on Ukraine while waiting for additional military aid, as indicated by three officials to CNN. Concerns have been raised about a potential gap in time between the approval of funds and the delivery of necessary weapons for Ukraine to defend itself, according to CNN.
The officials fear that Russia may exploit this delay, as evidenced by an attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with missiles and drones, as reported by Ukrainian officials to CNN.
Ambassador Pierce emphasized Putin’s serious threat to transatlantic and Ukrainian security.
“Anyone underestimating Putin’s ambitions in Ukraine is mistaken,” Pierce warned.
Pierce also commended the U.S. for its role in maintaining global security and prosperity since World War II.
