Campaign: Trump Did Not Break Gag Order

Donald Trump’s campaign stated that the former president did not breach a judge’s gag order in his Manhattan criminal trial after reports emerged that he deleted a social media post early Tuesday.

The alleged post by Trump raised concerns about his legal team not having adequate time to prepare for the next witness in the trial, as per The Hill.

Responding to these reports, campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told Newsmax that “The gag order imposed by conflicted Judge Juan Merchan in the lawless Manhattan DA case is unconstitutional and un-American. President Trump has not violated this wrongful edict by a partisan operative.”

Merchan recently expressed his intention to hold the former president in contempt of court for repeated violations of the gag order.

Following Monday’s proceedings, Trump dismissed the prospect of jail time, prioritizing the importance of the Constitution.

In an early morning post on Truth Social, which has since been deleted, Trump expressed frustration about the lack of time given for lawyers to prepare for the next witness, identified as adult film star Stormy Daniels for the New York trial.

The former president criticized Merchan in the post and questioned his actions, prompting a response from his legal team and the prosecutors involved in the case.

Despite having a list of potential witnesses, Trump’s legal team is not informed of the next witness until shortly before the testimony. The prosecution team cited concerns about Trump’s previous posts regarding witnesses as a reason for the limited notice.

As the courtroom exchanges on Monday unfolded, Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche highlighted the lack of information provided to the defense team about the upcoming witness, while Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass defended their process of notifying the defense promptly after the day’s proceedings.
