Catholic Healthcare Network in the US Forms Partnership to Provide Abortion Services
The largest Catholic healthcare network in the United States, CommonSpirit, has partnered with women’s clinic Tia, which offers virtual medication abortion services. The partnership was formed in March 2021, and Tia announced its virtual abortion services in May 2022. The Catholic research and education group, The Lepanto Institute, claims that this partnership undermines CommonSpirit’s Catholic identity and argues that Tia would not have gained its current success without CommonSpirit’s support. The institute is urging the Catholic Church to investigate CommonSpirit and strip it of its Catholic identity.
