CBS News Poll: Voters divided on Biden and Trump, with economy as primary concern
A recent CBS News poll has revealed that voters in three battleground states are evenly split between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
The survey conducted in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin found that both candidates are neck-and-neck in terms of voter preference.
In Michigan, Biden has a slight lead with 51% support compared to Trump’s 49%. Pennsylvania shows a similar trend with Biden at 49% and Trump at 50%. In Wisconsin, Biden holds onto 49% while Trump takes a slight lead with 50%.
Concerns about inflation and a struggling economy are prevalent topics among voters in these Midwest states, with almost half of those surveyed noting a deterioration in their state’s economy since 2020.
Looking back at the Trump administration, a majority of voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin rated the economy under Trump as “good.”
The poll was conducted from April 19-25 and surveyed 1,287 registered voters in Michigan, 1,306 in Pennsylvania, and 1,245 in Wisconsin. The margin of error for registered voters was ± 3.1 points in Michigan and Pennsylvania and ± 3.2 points in Wisconsin.
