Chip Roy Tells Newsmax: The Border Situation is a Joke

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, expressed to Newsmax on Tuesday his frustration with the lack of border security under the Biden administration, calling it a “joke” and criticizing President Joe Biden for not taking action sooner.

Roy’s remarks on “Rob Schmitt Tonight” came after President Joe Biden announced an executive order to temporarily suspend asylum requests once the number of daily encounters exceeds 2,500, a decision Roy deemed as absurd.

According to Roy, Biden could have implemented such measures from his first day in office, questioning the timing of the announcement and the failure of the House border bill. He also pointed out that the Senate bill proposed capping at 5,000 encounters, making Biden’s decision to lower the cap to 2,500 seem illogical.

Meanwhile, H.R. 2 has been sitting on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s desk for 390 days, as highlighted by Florida Rep. Byron Donalds.

Regarding the executive order signing, Biden emphasized that the border should not be politicized.
