CNN Poll: Supporters of DeSantis are More Likely to Vote for Trump

A recent CNN poll conducted from Jan. 16 to Jan. 19 shows that supporters of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who withdrew from the 2024 race on Sunday, are more likely to support former President Donald Trump as their second choice than former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

The poll, conducted for CNN by the University of New Hampshire, reveals that 62% of likely GOP New Hampshire voters who chose DeSantis as their first choice picked Trump as their second choice. The remaining 30% chose Haley.

On Sunday, DeSantis declared his endorsement of Trump, stating on Twitter, “I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear: a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.”

The poll surveyed 2,348 respondents, including 1,242 likely 2024 Republican primary voters, and had a margin of error of ±2.8%.
