Colorado GOP Suggests Burning Pride Flags During June

The Colorado Republican Party is urging individuals to set fire to pride flags during the month of June.

On Monday, the state GOP posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing a meme containing false allegations that LGBTQ individuals are “groomers” seeking to cause harm to children.

“As June begins, the godless groomers in our society are once again trying to attack what is moral, holy, and just in an effort to endanger our children,” expressed the Colorado GOP in an email.

Dave Williams, the chair of the Colorado Republican Party and a congressional candidate in the state’s 5th district, stood by the post.

“The Colorado Republican Party makes no apologies for stating that God detests pride or pride flags because it is an agenda that poses harm to children and challenges parental authority,” Williams conveyed to The Hill. “The only criticism we face is from radical Democrats, the biased news media, and feeble Republicans who succumb to leftist cancel culture.”

Valdamar Archuleta, a Republican congressional candidate in Colorado’s 1st district, denounced the party’s endorsement following the controversial post, labeling it as “hateful.”

“This email does not represent the Republican voters of Colorado,” Archuleta stated. “I know the Republicans in our state and city. They are compassionate, inclusive, loving, and welcoming individuals. They have become some of my closest friends. They cherish this country, state, city, and their neighbors.”

Just last month, the Colorado Republican Party advised parents to withdraw their children from public schools due to what they termed as “LGBTQ indoctrination.”

“All Colorado parents should aim to remove their children from public education,” the state party recommended in an email. “If your child decides to identify as a girl out of anger towards you or due to peer influence, the Colorado government will actively support their new identity by allowing them to identify as ‘she,’ ‘they,’ or any other nonsensical terms imagined by your child’s teachers and peers.”
