Congressman Burchett Tells Newsmax: Hunter Biden Will Not be Charged With Contempt by DOJ
Members of the House Oversight Committee are set to vote on holding Hunter Biden in contempt for refusing to participate in a closed-door deposition as part of the House impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. According to Rep. Tim Burchett, even if the vote goes through, the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland won’t move forward with charging him. Burchett made the comments on Newsmax Wednesday.
Burchett criticized the administration as being “gutless and derelict in all their duties” and emphasized the need for Congress to take real action and exercise its power as the purse strings of the government.
Before the vote took place, Burchett told Newsmax that “this talk is cheap,” writing letters and knowing that the Justice Department will not take any action. He also accused Hunter Biden of thumbing his nose at the system and potentially colluding with his father, as well as evading taxes on his foreign investments.
Meanwhile, the Oversight Committee interviewed Hunter Biden’s Manhattan art broker in a closed-door interview, during which the broker denied working with the White House on an ethics pact to keep the buyers of paintings anonymous. Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., stated that the “vast majority of Hunter Biden’s art has been purchased by Democrat donors.”
Burchett also criticized the Hunter Biden art sales, stating that they are clear instances of buying influence and backdoor corruption.
