Congressman Greg Steube tells Newsmax that President Biden will not pardon Trump and is supporting the charges against him
Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Thursday that it was Biden’s Department of Justice that brought the charges against Donald Trump during an election year, so a pardon from Biden is unlikely.
Steube mentioned in an interview on “National Report” that the charges against Trump were intentionally brought during an election year to take him off the campaign trail, even if there is no conviction in New York.
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, criticized Biden for not urging prosecutors to drop the federal cases against Trump and not issuing a preemptive pardon, calling it a mistake.
Steube defended Trump, stating that he has had to spend millions defending himself against charges that are unwarranted. He also pointed out the lack of consequences for Biden and Hunter despite evidence of foreign payments.
Regarding possible impeachment proceedings, Steube mentioned that while a sitting president cannot be charged, impeachment proceedings can be initiated. He filed impeachment proceedings last year but they have not moved forward in the House.
Steube concluded that the charges against Trump in New York are a result of the weaponization of Biden’s DOJ.
