Congresswoman Murphy Receives Diagnosis of Tumor Located at Base of Skull

Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C., also a medical doctor, revealed on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with a pituitary macroadenoma tumor located at the base of his skull, believed to be benign.

“Given the size and location of the tumor, and its potential impact on important brain structures, I am scheduled to undergo surgical removal. I have full confidence in my medical team to guide me through this and help me recover completely,” Murphy stated in a statement.

“The outlook for recovery is positive, and I anticipate returning to work full-time soon. I trust in God’s plan and am at peace. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers and request privacy during this time,” Murphy concluded.

Murphy represents North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District and has served three terms.

His absence reduces the GOP majority in the House to 216-213.
