Criticism for Biden’s condolences over Raisi’s death

Republican lawmakers and other critics criticized President Joe Biden for offering “official condolences” to Iran following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, known as “The Butcher of Tehran.”

The U.S. State Department expressed condolences shortly after Raisi’s death in a helicopter crash over the weekend.

Raisi, responsible for a 1988 massacre in Iran that killed thousands, had recently condemned the U.S. for supporting “the Zionist regime’s crimes against humanity in Gaza,” as reported by The Washington Free Beacon.

During his tenure, Raisi enforced strict hijab and chastity laws, suppressed protests, and was heavily involved in nuclear negotiations.

Senator Tom Cotton criticized the condolences, calling Raisi a monster and a disgrace.

Representative Chuck Fleischmann condemned Biden for appeasing enemies and offering condolences to an evil tyrant.

Representative Pat Fallon described Raisi as an architect of terrorism and rejected the idea of sending condolences.

Billionaire Bill Ackman found it “crazy” that Biden offered condolences to Iran for Raisi’s death, comparing it to sending condolences to Germany when Hitler died.

Policy director Jason Brodsky criticized Biden for lacking moral clarity in offering condolences to Iran for Raisi’s death, emphasizing the need for strong leadership.
