DA Willis Aims to Accelerate Resolution for All 19 Georgia Cases
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has requested that the trials of all 19 defendants in Georgia’s election interference case be expedited. Only two defendants, attorneys Kenneth Chesbro and Sidney Powell, have asked for a quick trial. Chesbro has been granted a speedy trial for October 23, but Powell’s motion is still awaiting a ruling. Willis is pushing for all remaining cases to be scheduled for October 23 as well and opposes the cases being severed into separate trials. Former President Donald Trump’s legal team has opposed Willis’ request. Trump and his 18 co-defendants were indicted on charges of trying to subvert Georgia’s 2020 election results, and he was recently booked and photographed at the Fulton County Jail.
