De Niro Criticizes Trump for ‘Snapping’ After 2020 Election Defeat
Actor Robert De Niro, known for his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, stars in a campaign ad approved by President Joe Biden. In the ad, De Niro claims that Trump “snapped” after leaving the White House and warns that he wants to “terminate the Constitution.”
The 30-second spot began airing on broadcast markets and digital platforms in battleground states, as well as on national cable. This ad is part of the Biden campaign’s paid media for May, as reported by Deadline.
In the ad, De Niro highlights Trump’s behavior during his presidency, including “midnight tweets, drinking bleach, tear-gassing citizens, and staging a photo op.” He then emphasizes that Trump lost the 2020 election and “snapped” while trying to hold onto power.
De Niro expresses concern that Trump is now running again and threatening to become a dictator and terminate the Constitution. The actor warns that Trump will stop at nothing to seek revenge. The ad also includes footage of Trump using the word “bloodbath” in a speech.
After Trump’s speech in March, during which he used the word “bloodbath,” he clarified that he was referring to potential losses in the automobile manufacturing industry, not political violence. De Niro’s ad follows his previous explicit comments on Bill Maher’s HBO show and his recent outburst on “The View.”
