‘Deal Roadblock Doesn’t Surprise’ Says Sen. Cruz to Newsmax
Republican Senator Ted Cruz commented on the setbacks faced by Hunter Biden’s plea deal with the Department of Justice, stating that he was “not shocked” by the developments. Cruz argued that the deal was designed to protect President Joe Biden from inquiries regarding his son’s prosecution. He believed that the attention on Hunter Biden’s alleged corruption and criminal activity led to the plea deal as a way to relieve pressure. Cruz also criticized the Department of Justice and the FBI for not cooperating with congressional inquiries into the investigation. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to two tax fraud misdemeanors, but the plea deal faced skepticism from U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika. Cruz suggested that the deal may have been approved if it had not been for the testimony of two IRS agents before the House Oversight Committee. The deal reportedly required Hunter Biden to remain drug-free and avoid committing any additional crimes for two years in order to dismiss his gun count without a guilty plea.
