Defense Wraps Up Case in New York Trial Without Testimony from Trump
Donald Trump’s defense team concluded their arguments on Tuesday without the former president testifying in his New York business records trial.
The jury was dismissed until May 28, when closing statements will be made. Trump did not address the media as he left the courthouse and did not respond to questions about his decision not to testify.
With over four weeks of testimony, the jurors could start deliberating next week to determine Trump’s guilt or innocence on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Prosecutors allege that Trump falsified company records to conceal payments made to suppress negative news about him before the 2016 election.
Trump maintains his innocence and denounces the case as politically motivated.
